Mountain Restaurant - Diary Entry No.1

Last week we popped into Mountain in Soho for lunch run by one of our amazing customers Super 8 Restaurants. This place is really something special, and it starts from the second you walk through the door. Aside from the usual brilliant service (attentive, friendly knowledgeable etc.), there is something really unique about the team here. They all seem completely bought into what the restaurant is all about. You feel as though every person you speak to in the team has a sense of ownership in the restaurant and that is super special.

Safe to say we are super proud that they're using SIDEWAYS as their Learning Management System to make training and developing their team more current, accessible and exciting. As the brains behind Kiln in Soho, Brat and the Smoking Goat in Shoreditch and of course, Mountain, there is nothing 'chainy' about this restaurant group. Each place has its own identity, its own feel and its own team paving the way in their unique style.

My favourite dishes

  • Wood-Fired Rice: This side dish is legendary for a reason. Hearty, smoky, and utterly addictive. We may have fought over the crispy bits.

  • Grilled Red Peppers with Squid: Smoky squid, sweet peppers, a touch of black pudding… this dish is a flavor explosion.

These guys aren't just running restaurants, they're creating destinations whilst building and developing the next generation of hospitality talent. We are super excited to be part of their story, especially when it comes to ensuring that there is a way to make learning and training no longer crap, expensive and boring!! 💙

The lasting verdict?

Mountain is a triumph. The food is exceptional, the atmosphere is buzzing, and the service is spot-on. It's a place that celebrates simple, high-quality ingredients and the power of cooking with fire. We left full, happy, and already plotting our next visit. If you're looking for a fantastic meal in Soho, this is it.
